Emma Gloria Tarin was born as one of the younger of eleven children on April 30, 1925 at Columbus, Luna, New Mexico to Juan Tarin and Maria Sanchez. Juan was the son of William Crosby and Teofila Tarin. Maria was the daughter of Vidal Sanchez and Lorenza Beltran.
Emma's parents lived mostly in New Mexico but in 1918 they were in Colonia Dublán, Chihuahua, Mexico where Maria gave birth to Apolonio Tarin on August 13, 1918. He lived until December 1919.

Emma and Gustavo married on December 29, 1948 in Colonia Dublán, Chihuahua, Mexico. Gustavo was a rancher and farmer, as well as a businessman.

Gustavo and Emma divorced in 1983 after thirty-five years of being married.
Emma attended the wedding of her son Gus Jr. and his fiancee Maria in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on February 14, 2006. After arriving in Tucson, Arizona with her daughter Ruth Amanda, Emma collapsed as a result of an anuerysm. The hospital proclaimed her to be brain dead so life support was removed on Sunday, February 19, 2006. Emma passed away on Monday February 20, 2006 at 8 a.m..
Some of Emma's children were able to spend a week with Emma just before her collapse, and several photographs were taken of her, which we now know will be for her posterity to see them and know her.

Funeral Services will be held at the L.D.S. Stake Building at 105 N. Norton Avenue in Tucson, Arizona. Viewing will be at South Lawn Mortuary at 5401 South Park Avenue contiguous with the Tucson Memorial Park South Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.
