French troops withdraw from Mexico. Many French and Swiss soldiers remain in Mexico. A tribe of blonde, blue-eyed "Indians" remain in mountains. |

William C. McClellan, a Mormon Battalion veteran, was the first to cross the border into Mexico around 1884-1885. McClellan was instructed to establish a central camp for other immigrants. Here he met Senior Jose Maria Holguin, a very friendly man, who gave McClellan permission to use some of his land two miles north of La Ascension for a camp. |

Church President John Taylor after a conference in St. David, AZ appointed some men to act as land purchasing agents in Chihuahua, Mexico for the Church to prepare a refuge for saints that were vulnerable to arrest under the Edmunds law. Those who felt in danger, he said, should depart immediately to the valley of the Cases Grandes in Chihuahua. |

President Wilford Woodruff of the Mormon Church issued his "Manifesto" which declared an end to the contracting of plural marriages in the Church. Approved at Church conference in October. |

Orson,43, fell fourteen feet and is crushed by five hundred-pound log. Breaks his neck, right shoulder, right elbow, several vertebrae, hip, skull cracked, etc. Nursed by wives Jane Galbraith and Bessie Macdonald. Received blessing from Brothers Charles Lillywhite, George Bunker, and Patriarch Jameson and is healed. (see "Faith Like the Ancient" by Lundwell pp 77-79.) |

450 Mormons, including O.P. Brown's families fled from the Morelos area to Douglas, AZ in sixty lumber wagons. One of his twin sons by Jane Galbraith, W. Galbraith Brown, 7, was thrown from one of the jolting wagons and crushed beneath a wheel, buried in Colonia Morelos. O.P was in El Paso fulfilling his calling to assist the thousands of displaced Mormons to find food and shelter, then later negotiated to receive compensation for their property in Mexico. |

Angela's family and their friends the Camarena family move to El Paso, Texas. Together they buy a building that they use for many business ventures. |

Orson, 72, suffered a horse stampede on his buggy, lost one eye (wore a glass eye from then on), broke many bones, sustained great injuries. His mother had told him in 1906 accident that he would live to be 83 so he was confident of a recovery. Bertha accompanied him on train to hospital in El Paso and during his recovery. |

Bertha Brown married Everardo Navas de Molina (11-01-1921) Pauly G. Brown married Lilia Gonzalez (8-19-1927) Double wedding, sealed in Mesa, Arizona Temple. Eliza Skousen Brown and her daughters Anna, Elizabeth, and Gwen provided a nice reception afterwards. |

Orson P. Brown died at age of 83, Angela was 45 1/2 years old. Angela continued to live in the farmhouse on the Dublán farm. |

Arwell Pierce knelt as proxy for Orson to have his family sealed together in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. One account names Pauly, Aron and Mary only. No mention of Gustavo, Heber, or Martha. |

Angela's mother, Maria Duran de Holguin, died at age of 79. On the way to the funeral Mary, Pauly and Angela sustained injuries in a car-truck accident near Ciudad Jiménez. Lilia did not show any injuries. The car was totaled. |

Bertha appointed Angela with full and complete custody of Lucy, Bertha's thirteen-year-old daughter, for nine months to live with Angela in El Paso, Texas in the converted garage apartment at 5504 Paraguay. |
