Shirley, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, passed away on August 24, 2006 due to complications including heart, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
Born March 23, 1931 in Salt Lake City to Miles Romney Brown and Florence May Wilde Brown. She graduated from Granite High School where she met her husband Donald B. Hadley. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, September 28, 1950. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Shirley was active in many civic and volunteer activities in Salt Lake City, Tokyo, Japan and Los Angeles, California. These included the Utah and Salt Lake CPA Auxiliaries, Utah Council of Women, Tokyo Women’s Club, California-Utah Women’s Association. She served as president and board member of the Assistance League in the Palm Springs and Palos Verdes areas and was very active in these organization for a great number of years.
She is survived by her husband Don, son Harold B. Hadley (Heidi) , daughters Cindy Wood, Mrs. Kathie Neff (Paul) and Mrs. Leisa H. Groscost (Gary) her brother James W. Brown (Joyce) and sister Barbara (Edward) Silver. She adored all eleven of her grandchildren; Natalie, Erica, Cameron, Lacey, Lindsay, Jonathan, Marissa, McKenzey, Kelsey, Gregory, Madison, Parker, Chandler and Morgan. She was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews. While living in many different places, she cultivated friendships in Salt Lake, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Palm Springs..
Graveside services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park chapel at 3401 South Highland Drive on Saturday August 26, 2006 at 5: 00 pm. Friends my call at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Chapel 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
The family wants to thank Joyce Birch and the staff at Silverado Senior Living, Aspen Park for the caring services provided to Shirley. We also deeply appreciate the many people who continued to visit her through her extended illness.
