Myron Abbott is the son of Stephen Joseph Abbott and Abigail Smith Abbott.

Myron ABBOTT was born on 1 Dec 1837 at Perry, Pike, Illinois. He was christened on 3 Sep 1909. "Myron was an immigrant Saint from 1849 as part of five companies of about 500 wagons and 1400 people led by Orson Spencer, Allen Taylor, Silas Richards, George S. Smith, and Ezra T. Benson. Many others came in independent companies, as well as some members of the Mormon Battalion. Among Myron's family also migrating to Salt Lake Valley in 1849 were his mother, Abigail Smith Abbott (43), his sisters, Emily Abbott, Abigail Abbott (2/3/1842), Charilla A. Abbott (7/4/1829), Phebe Abbott (5/18/1831), Cynthia Abbott (12/28/1839), his brother, Abiel Abbott, and an unknown Abbott age of 7 (6/1842)." --Heart Throbs of the West, Vol. 10, DUP 1949, Page 441.

"In the early Pioneer days, often when there was work to be done, they would make a "Bee" of it and invite their friends and neighbors in to assist them. These "Bees" consisted of "Carpet-rag Bees", "Quilting Bees", "Spinning Bees", "Peach Cutting Bees", "Corn Husking Bees", "Scraping Bees", etc. After the work was completed, a social was held when entertainment of some sort was enjoyed.
Quoting from Myron Abbott's diary: "September 13, 1880. I made a Scraping Bee. Quite a number of the brethren turned out to help me. They were all at my house to dinner. * * * We had a good time. We had a roasted pig for our dinner and many of the bounties of the earth., and at night I gave them a dance at my house. All passed off well and about 12 o'clock they all went home feeling well satisfied and pleased. "--Ella J. Seegmiller
