Enos Windsor was born, 6 Mar 1793, in Surry County., North Carolina. Died, 31 Jul 1839, in Preble County, Ohio. Burial in Dover Cemetery, Preble County, Ohio. Census: 1820, in Surry Co., NC. Census: 1830, in Wayne Co., IN. Occupation: Farmer.

The 1830 census listed Enos as living in Center Twp. with 2 males less than 5, 1 male 5-100, 1 female 5-10, and 2 females 10-15.

Cook (1992): "Petty's meetinghouse, which is now Flat Rock Baptist Church in Yadkin County records that Enos was admitted into the church union by experience and baptized August 1816. At the Zion Baptist Church an Enos Windsor is listed as helping to establish the school which was known as Douthit's School. The record is dated 4 July, 1826 and is believed to pertain to this Enos.

"Clarence Windsor stated to me that Enos and family went to Indiana about 1830 with the Walker Family among others."

Hazel R. Gennett wrote that he settled near Abington, Wayne Co., Indiana in 1830.

Gilbert, lists 1827-1834: Enos was on the Preble County Tax, lists, Jackson Twp. in 1833 and 1834.

His estate was administered in Preble County, Ohio by Frederick Stark, 2 Sep 1839.
His estate was appraised by Elijah Paddack, Benjamin Fisher, and Archibald Campbell.

He married, first, Nancy Jones, the first of seven children, daughter of John Jones (1777-1865}and Ester Fisher Jones (1775-1837), on 14 Oct 1816, in Surry, North Carolina.. Nancy was born on 21 Aug 1799, in Surry Co., North Carolina. Nancy's sister, Esther Jones married Captain James Brown.

Enos married second, Sarah Elizabeth Stark, born, 1799, in New Hampshire, daughter of Archibald Stark III and Elinor Stark. Died, 14 Oct 1853, in Wayne Co., Indiana. Census: 1850, in Wayne Twp., Wayne Co., Indiana. In the 1850 census, Sarah, tax value $400, had living with her William, farmer (age 15) and Elizabeth.

Gilbert, lists 1827-34: Sarah was listed in the Preble County tax lists, Jackson Twp., 1828, 1829, and 1830.

Preble Co. Deeds: Sarah Stark from William Threewits March 8, 1831, a Quit Claim. Sarah Stark from Elizabeth Stark, 86 ac Eaton S 1/2 NW 1/4 E 1/2 of 28/29 sec. 1 T8 R28. Also other transactions between Elizabeth and Sarah.

Census: 1850, in Wayne Twp., Wayne Co., IN. Census: 1860, in New Paris, Preble Co., OH. He married Mary Tamanda White, 3 Feb 1867, in Whitewater, Wayne, Indiana.

Elizabeth Frances Windsor. Born, 8 Jul 1837, in Jackson Twp., Preble Co., OH[60]. Died, 22 Apr 1898, in New Paris, Preble Co., OH[60]. Census: 1880, in Jefferson Twp., Preble Co., OH. Census: 1850, in Wayne Twp., Wayne Co., IN. Census: 1860, in New Paris, Preble Co., OH. Occupation: Homemaker. According to her obituary, Elizabeth was born in Jackson Twp. Her father died 1839 and at age 6 she moved across the state line. Her mother died 1853 when Elizabeth was 15 and she lived with Henry Garretson until she was married to Andrew K. Reid. She moved to New Paris in 1894. (See photo below.)

Sarah relinquished the right of administration of her husband's estate to her brother Frederick Stark 20 Sept. 1839, "She the said Sarah now being Sick and not able to attend Court."

Preble Co. Common Pleas Court: Archibald Campbell was appointed guardian of the Windsor children Feb. 25, 1840. Sarah was later (October 11, 1845) appointed guardian of William and Elizabeth, her children. June 25, 1841 filed for dower against children of Enos and Nancy. Land, 8 acres, part NW 1/4 sec. 29 T8 R1.

H.R.G. says she died from a broken back when thrown from a horse.

She left a will dated 3 Nov. 1853, of and in Wayne Co., Indiana:
1) To daughter Elizabeth Frances Windsor, one cow, six head of sheep, all the woolen rolls and my side saddle and one-half of all the household goods not specifically bequeathed.
2) To son William R. Windsor: all the residue of personal property, and he is to collect and pay out all debts against the estate from this amount.
3) The real estate to be divided equally between the two. The amount coming to them from their father's estate which I received from their Guardian and is now invested in real estate is not to be included in the debts to be paid by William but is to be shared alike by them. As neither is of age they should chose their own Guardians. '
Sarah Windsor signed by Enos Thomas by the request of the said Sarah's. Witnessed by Henry Garretson and John Kirkpatrick.

Her son William was described in his pension record as "6 feet --inches; complexion dark; hair dark; eyes grey."
