Robert Archer, known as "Bob" served in many offices of the Fresno Gem & Mineral Society, Vice President, Board Member, Tumbling Chairman, Field Trip Chairman, and others. Bob's business as photographer of weddings and reunions, as well as portraits for school year books, kept him very busy. Bob held a Ham Radio license (WD6GVA) and communicated with other Ham Radio operators during catastrophies across the U.S.A. and relaying the information to those who needed it. Woodworking was another of Bob's hobbies along with all the machinery needed for lapidary work.
